Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival – 4th of July Celebration

July 4 - July 6

Celebrate America’s birthday in America’s coolest small town! We invite you and your family to join our community in celebration. Escape the hustle and bustle and experience the charming allure of small-town America this 4th of July in Fayetteville.  Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival and 4th of July celebration will take place July 4th-6th. This event features fun activities for the whole family, including a 4th of July Parade, fireworks, carnival, live music, and more! One of the highlights of the celebration is the 4th of July Parade, where you will see an explosion of patriotism with decked-out floats. Bring your pet and enter the patriotic pat contest or join in an old-fashioned cake walk. Stroll down our quaint streets, lined with unique shops, local eateries, and friendly faces. Immerse yourself in our rich heritage at the Fayetteville Heritage Festival, where you can enjoy local crafts, delicious food, and exciting games. Dance the night away to live music and join the lively street dance. We will be hosting our second annual hotdog eating contest this year. The festivities will be capped off by a fireworks extravaganza at the Fayetteville Town Park.

Fayetteville Bingo 

Stop by the Fayetteville Visitor Center to grab a bingo card. Have fun at bingo spots around town while you explore in Fayetteville over the holiday. Once you get bingo return your card with contact information to the Fayetteville Visitor Center. Cards will go into a raffle for Fayetteville prizes! Cards are valid July 4-11th. Winners will be notified after the competition wraps up.

Wednesday, July 3 

New River Gorge Eco Tour- Naturalist Guided Forest Walk ($) 

Join new friends for an open-registration 3 hour guided naturalist forest walk with New River Eco Tours. This tour open-to-the-public, minimum age 18. Take advantage of a low impact way to earn about the history, culture and ecology of the New River Gorge National Park.

Carnival Ride Daily

Thursday, July 4

Enjoy all the festivities in downtown Fayetteville with vendors set up along Court Street in front of the courthouse. Stop by for family friendly games like hula hooping, sack races, balloon toss and cake walk. The carnival will be set up at the Fayetteville Town Park. The Heritage Festival parade will put on a show through town with Thursdays festivities wrapping up with street dance and live music.

Join us for the Heritage Festival 4th of July Celebration Parade. The parade route travels from Fayetteville PK-8 and travels down Maple Ave towards the courthouse. Spectators can lineup along Maple Ave at spots like the Memorial Building, Ben Franklin and post office in town to catch the parade.

Friday, July 5 

On Friday vendors will be set up at the Town Park along with the carnival. There will be live music throughout the day and a gaga ball tournament and patriotic pet contest. From 5pm-8pm Fayetteville’s First Friday event will start downtown where business will be open for extended shopping hours and an artisan market will set up along court street with live music.

Fayetteville’s Patriotic Pet Contest 

Join us on July 5th for our Patriotic Pet Contest, a fun and festive event celebrating our furry friends in true red, white, and blue style! Dress your pets in their most patriotic attire and compete for fantastic prizes awarded to the most patriotic pet. Remember, all pets must be leashed to ensure everyone’s safety. Show off your pet’s American spirit and enjoy a delightful day filled with patriotic pride! Join us on the first ball field for the contest.

Fayetteville’s First Friday

Celebrate Downtown Fayetteville at First Fridays! Join us for our July First Friday July 5th from 5pm-8pm downtown! Businesses will stay open late, offering extended shopping hours so you can explore all the unique shops, boutiques, and galleries our town has to offer. But that’s not all! Court Street will be closed to traffic to host an artisan market, featuring talented local and regional vendors selling handmade goods, arts, and crafts. You’ll also find food trucks, live music, and other entertainment to keep you entertained as you stroll through downtown.

Whether you’re in the mood for some retail therapy, looking to indulge in delicious local fare, or simply want to soak up the lively atmosphere, First Fridays in Fayetteville have something for everyone. This is the perfect opportunity to shop small, support local businesses, and celebrate the spirit of this charming West Virginia town.

Saturday, July 6th

Kick off your day at the Fayetteville Farmers market and head over to the town park for the rest of the festivities.  The carnival continues along with vendors set up at the park and live music through the day. Festivities wrap up with a spectacular firework show at the town park at dusk.

Hot Dog Eating Contest

Firework Shuttle

Take advantage of the free shuttle service July 6th 5pm-10pm, with stops at Fayetteville PK8 School, the Memorial Building, Board of Education lots and Charlie McCoy Town Park to combat limited parking for the firework show.

Fayetteville puts on an amazing firework show at the Fayetteville Town Park at dusk. Bring a blanket or folding chair to enjoy the show!
