Candace Evans has always believed that movement can change communities, and she keeps proving it. As owner of
New River Yoga —the sunny studio tucked into historic downtown Fayetteville—Candace holds an RYT-200 in Ashaya Yoga and centers her classes on “self-awareness, wholeness, healing, and freedom.”
On Saturday, June 14 she’s taking that mission a step further, donating both her studio and a free, all-levels yoga flow at 11 AM to kick off Fayetteville Pride weekend. (Yes, that means you and your mat get to breathe, stretch, and set the day’s vibe right inside the gateway town to the New River Gorge National Park.)
At New River Yoga, the celebration keeps rolling:
• 6 PM – Local legend Katey Lauer calls a gender-neutral old-time square dance—no partner or experience required, just a willingness to whoop and stomp.
• 7 PM – Our “Glow-Up” station opens: washable body paint, hair glitter, and other sparkly magic to get you dance-floor-ready.
• 8 PM–12 AM – Drop into New River Yoga, transformed into the Mellow Nook Lounge, for downtempo DJ sets, comfy floor cushions, and sober-friendly drinks while the main dance party rages across the street.
Candace’s generosity isn’t a one-off; she’s the same studio owner who offered free classes to local teachers during the pandemic because she knew they needed a breather.
So show up early, unroll that mat, and give Candace—and
New River Yoga —a big Pride-week thank-you. Follow @NewRiverYogaWV or visit
newriveryogawv.com to see the full class schedule, grab future drop-in passes, or just scroll feel-good photos of folks practicing on platforms high above the Gorge.
Fayetteville Pride wouldn’t be the same without Candace’s open-hearted support—let’s pack the studio and prove it.
