DESCRIPTION:Our Spring run at Babcock\, the “Gristmill Grinder” has become such a favorite we decided that it was time to invite you to a Fall run- Sticks and Stones 15K! This course too is already a classic\, and is a point-to-point format. Starting at Historic Camp Washington-Carver runners will run into the park and along the rim of the Mann’s Creek Gorge before dropping down into the deep canyon. This adds another 2.2 miles of trail to the Big loop from the Grinder course and takes away a mile of road. This leaves you with 9 miles of trail that is incredibly fast\, fun and so spectacular! Enjoy the beautiful fall colors\, rhododendron tunnels\, waterfalls\, cliffs\, bridges and always amazing scenery. The only road section on this course is as you run up to the famous Gristmill and then turn left toward Skyline and the Finish. \nSo\, what are you waiting for? Participants will complete a series of fun\, self-guided challenges designed to encourage observation\, exploration\, and imagination while learning about legendary Appalachian creatures. \nHow to Participate: \n\n\nPick up your Junior Cryptozoologist field guide at the Fayetteville Visitor Center \n\n\nComplete activities and challenges as you explore downtown \n\n\nReturn your completed guide to the Visitor Center for verification \n\n\nThe first 300 youth participants who complete the program will earn an official Junior Cryptozoologist collectible pin! \nDesigned especially for kids and families\, this self-paced adventure turns the entire town into a living classroom of folklore\, creativity\, and discovery. \nCryptid Art Show at Love Hope Center for the Arts \n \nLove Hope Center for the Arts is exhibiting artwork from regional artists inspired by cryptid folklore and Appalachian legends! \nIn participation with Fayetteville’s exciting new Cryptid Weekend\, the Cryptid Art show will run March 6th to March 28th. \n\nCryptid Creative Writing Contest \n\nCalling all young storytellers\, monster hunters\, and cryptid creators! \nAs part of Fayetteville’s Cryptid Festival\, we invite local students in kindergarten through 12th grade to enter our Cryptid Creative Writing Contest for a chance to win a gift basket filled with goodies and local surprises! Create an original story about your favorite cryptid\, a cryptid encounter or a invent a brand-new cryptid. Stories can be funny\, spooky\, adventurous\, mysterious — or anything your imagination dreams up.
