Escape the hustle and bustle and experience the charming allure of small-town America this 4th of July in Fayetteville. Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival and 4th of July celebration will take place July 3rd and 4th. This event features fun activities for the whole family, including a 4th of July Parade, fireworks, carnival, live music, and more! One of the highlights of the celebration is the 4th of July Parade, where you will see an explosion of patriotism with decked-out floats. Bring your pet and enter the patriotic pat contest or join in an old-fashioned cake walk. Stroll down our quaint streets, lined with unique shops, local eateries, and friendly faces. Immerse yourself in our rich heritage at the Fayetteville Heritage Festival, where you can enjoy local crafts, delicious food, and exciting games. Dance the night away to live music and join the lively street dance. We will be hosting our 3rd annual hotdog eating contest this year. The festivities will be capped off by a fireworks extravaganza at the Fayetteville Town Park.
Small town 4th of July celebrations are something truly special—and Fayetteville knows how to do it right! Here’s what you need to know before you head into town for the Heritage Festival and all the Independence Day fun.
Street Closures:
Court Street (between Wiseman Ave. and Maple Ave.) will be closed to traffic on July 3rd and 4th for festivities. Expect a lively downtown filled with vendors, music, games, and celebrations! Please use alternate routes and drive carefully around detour areas.
Where to Park:
Parking is available at the Board of Education lot, the Fayette County Bus Garage, the Courthouse lot of Wiseman outside of business hours.
Free Shuttle Service – Friday, July 4th:
To make your evening even easier, the Town of Fayetteville will be providing a free shuttle bus on Friday, July 4th from 7:00 PM until after the fireworks show.
The shuttle will make continuous stops at:
Fayetteville PK-8
Memorial Building
Board of Education lot
Courthouse lot
Fayetteville Town Park (event site)
Avoid the hassle of parking near the crowd and hop on the shuttle for a smooth ride to and from the festivities!
Bring your lawn chairs, wear your red, white, and blue, and come ready for hot dogs, live music, fireworks, and good old-fashioned fun in America’s coolest small town!

Small Town 4th of July Parade

Lineup at Fayetteville PK-8 at 4pm
The WV Mountaineer Cade Kincaid from Fayetteville will be making an appearance in The Best Small Town 4th of July Parade!
We encourage everyone to participate in the parade fun! The lineup is at Fayetteville PK-8 at 4pm. The parade will kick off at 5pm and travel down Maple Ave into town. Folks can lineup along Maple Ave to watch the parade come through.
Fayetteville’s Cake Walk & Kids Cookie Walk
Thursday, July 3rd 7:15pm Downtown
Join in on a sweet small-town tradition—our old-fashioned cake walk! Buy a ticket to support the 4th of July fundraiser, then step into the circle and take your chances. When the music stops, a number will be called… and if it’s yours, you’ll walk away with a homemade cake! It’s like winning the dessert lottery—no baking required.

Patriotic Pet Contest
Friday, July 4th at 2pm
Bring out your furry friends on a leash to compete for best patriotic pet for a chance to win prizes! Dress up your pet in their favorite red, white and blue, ensemble. The contest is free to enter. Meet us on the first ball field behind the concession stand. Plan to come ahead of 2pm so you have time to find parking and walk to the contest with your pet. Bring water to keep your pet comfortable in the heat. Prizes will be awarded for best patriotic pet.
Hot Dog Eating Contest
Friday July 3rd at 3pm Charlie Mccoy Park
The third annual Fayetteville Hotdog Eating Contest is back! The Contest starts at 3pm in front of shelter 1 at the Charlie Mccoy Town Park. There is no cost to particiate but we do need you to register because we only have 10 spots for competitors. First participant to eat 10 hotdogs buns and all wins! The contest is sponsored by Tudors Biscuit World.
Fayetteville’s July First Friday
Friday July 4th 5pm-8:00pm Downtown Court Street
Enjoy the festivities at the Charlie Mccoy Park and come by downtown for Fayetteville’s First Friday. Court Street will be blocked off for vendors, local artists and food trucks. Your favorite Fayetteville shops will be open for extended hours. Enjoy live music downtown! New River Zen is hosting Haus Coffee & Ceramics for a pop up shop in front of her shop.
