From November 1st to 30th\, Fayetteville transforms into a whimsical wonderland as gnomes of all shapes and sizes take up residence all over town. It’s time to grab your gnome hunting gear and set out on a Gnomevember Scavenger Hunt—a month-long adventure that’s fun for all ages! \nHow It Works: \nStop by the Fayetteville Visitor Center to pick up your official gnome tracking sheet\, then head out into town to see how many gnomes you can find. These mischievous little creatures will be hiding in shops\, restaurants\, and all-around town\, just waiting for you to discover them. Keep your eyes sharp—some gnomes come with special surprises! Bonus gnomes will appear throughout the month\, offering extra prizes and treats for lucky gnome hunters. \nAt the end of your gnome-tracking adventure\, return your completed sheet to the Visitor Center for a small prize. If you’re hunting after hours\, no worries! You can drop off your sheet in our special after-hours box\, and we’ll mail your prize. Plus\, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook for clues to special gnome locations and updates throughout the month. \nGnome Quest: \nIf you want to up the challenge participate in Gilby’s gnome quest across Fayetteville! Pick up a quest scroll at the Fayetteville Visitor Center to reveal your first clue. This journey will take you around historic landmarks and in and out of businesses\, so it is best to join the hunt on Thursdays- Sunday when most shops in town are open. \nIn the heart of Fayetteville\, where hills hold secrets and forests hum with ancient magic\, lives a gnome named Gibly. Like all gnomes\, Gibly was drawn to the beauty of nature and cherished the age-old folklore that bound the people and creatures of Fayetteville to the land. He had heard tales of a mystical relic called the Heart of the Hills\, a hidden gem of pure magic\, said to bring vitality and protection to the land and its people. But recently\, the heart had gone missing\, and Gibly felt a calling deep within his soul to restore it to Fayetteville. \nWith a knowing glance from the elder gnomes\, Gibly was off on his adventure\, following clues hidden throughout town to gather pieces of the Heart’s power. Join Gibly and help him on his quest to find the Heart of the Hills. Please do not move the gnomes or clues. Not climate controlled courts. NO HEAT\, wear layers.  \nWhat to Expect:\n• Pickleball games for all skill levels• A fun and social environment• Loaner paddles available (bring your own if you have one!) \nHow to Prepare:\n• Wear active clothing and non-marking shoes• Bring water to stay hydrated• No experience needed—just come ready to play! \nStay Connected:\nJoin our Facebook group for updates! – https://www.facebook.com/groups/180588409141090 \nActive SWV play is from 5-7 pm.  Anyone wishing to play longer will need to pay for use through Gripped and complete their waiver: HOWL LLC d/b/a GRIPPED FITNESS RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY \nActive Southern West Virginia encourages all pickleball participants to prioritize eye safety during play. The American Academy of Ophthalmology highlights the risk of serious eye injuries from pickleball due to the sport’s fast-paced nature and hard plastic balls. To reduce this risk\, players are advised to wear protective eyewear made of polycarbonate material\, which offers both front and side protection. Wrap-around goggles are particularly effective in safeguarding against potential injuries . While not currently mandated\, incorporating protective eyewear into your pickleball gear is a proactive step towards ensuring a safe and enjoyable playing experience. \n1. Pre-register for every time you want to join us for play (email me for help with this) \n2. Check in with the Community Captain on duty. It will be Ed\, or Beth\, or Greg\, or Jacki for the most part. Please don’t just go over to a court and start playing before doing this as well as number 3 on the list. \n3. Go to the whiteboard\, and sign up for a court. This whiteboard is on the table behind the courts. We used this instead of paddle stacking to keep games moving and it worked very well. If you weren’t with us last week\, not to worry\, it is not hard and many of the participants who came will be ready to help you out. When players are waiting\, it will be four on/four off\, so come back to the whiteboard to get back into the rotation after finishing a game. \n4. We will have a designated beginner court set up on either Court 1 or Court 4.  Please volunteer to work with any beginners until they are ready to rotate with the group. We had a beginner last week\, and a couple players played with her for about a half hour and she joined everyone else and it went great. We like to have beginners joining to learn\, so be part of the amazing group of seasoned players ready to help a beginner once in a while. \n5. If you invite others\, please ask them to do the membership and pre-register. \n6. If you notice anyone new\, feel free to ask them if they need to do a membership and help them out too. We may not be able to let everyone who shows up without registering play. But we can explain to them how to attend another session. \nThere are paddles to use if you don’t have one. Go to the whiteboard\, and sign up for a court. This whiteboard is on the table behind the courts. We used this instead of paddle stacking to keep games moving and it worked very well. If you weren’t with us last week\, not to worry\, it is not hard and many of the participants who came will be ready to help you out. When players are waiting\, it will be four on/four off\, so come back to the whiteboard to get back into the rotation after finishing a game. \n4. We will have a designated beginner court set up on either Court 1 or Court 4.  Please volunteer to work with any beginners until they are ready to rotate with the group. We had a beginner last week\, and a couple players played with her for about a half hour and she joined everyone else and it went great. DESCRIPTION:Experience the Winter Wonderland light display at Fayette County Park while walking or running at your own pace. Participants are welcome to complete as many laps as they’d like during the one-hour event. This is not a timed race. \nThe event is stroller-friendly and designed for all ages. Children 12 and under attend for free\, and the cost for adults is $10 per person (cash or sign up online beforehand). \nGuests are encouraged to wear festive attire and join in the fun of the Ugly Sweater and Deck the Stroller contests\, with a lighthearted runway and photo opportunity during the evening. \nJoin us for a unique\, active\, and family-friendly holiday experience.

After years of pain from sport related injuries\, she embarked on a \nRYT 200 in Ashaya yoga with Randy Boyd. It is her desire to help others become more flexible\, not only in the body\, but the mind\, and to cultivate the power in each of us for healing.
