- What inspired you to start creating?
I’ve always been drawn to nature. My dad was a naturalist so I spent a lot of time outside with him. He said he couldn’t take me hunting because I talk too much so he took me artifact hunting instead. We collected all sorts of artifacts. I have had a love for nature for as long as I can remember.
2. How did you get into working with resin?

I had a plethora of nature findings; glass, rocks, sticks, and lots of old windows so I started gluing stuff on. I created a large tree of life from all of these findings and it broke. I felt devastated and a friend suggested that I put plexiglass behind it and fill it with resin. The devastation from the tree bloomed into a whole new avenue of adventure. Working with resin has been a slow process to learn all the ins and outs and perfect the technique.
3. How would you describe your work?
One of a kind, eclectic, folky, Appalachian.
3. What are you most excited about working on right now?

Right now I am working on a West Virginia Piece. Really, anything that brings in my love of nature and allows me to get creative. I have also really enjoyed creating stone people scenes.
5.What inspires you about this place?
Nature, being outside and having this place as my backyard. I can have a bad day and go to the river and all my troubles float downstream. It’s been a blessing to grow up here. I love adventure and traveling. I would travel every day if I could.
You can find Lisa’s artwork at Studio B Art Boutique and Wine Gallery. She can also make custom creations that incorporate your special treasures.
