DESCRIPTION:Allan has been an ASCAP member since 1989 and has had hundreds of songs published. He has been a content provider for various TV shows and commercials\, including the hit TV series Barnwood Builders\, where he was also a music consultant for the first two seasons. He has played on various stages over the years with such luminaries as The Wood Brothers\, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band\, The Steeldrivers\, The Avett Brothers and many more as well as having been fortunate enough to play such festivals as Merlefest\, The John Hartford Memorial Festival\, Live on the Levee\, Bristol Rhythm and Roots \, The Lowell Folk Festival\, the Americana Music Festival and too many others to remember….he has also had his songs featured on PBS’ All Songs Considered and won various awards over the years for songwriting. Needless to say\, he has been around\, back again\, and now back around! He plans to keep going until he’s called to the Songwriter’s Circle in the Sky\, whenever that may be. Until then\, onward! \nFireside Jams are our FREE Saturday night music events\, held at the heart of the Gorge. DESCRIPTION:Formed in North Carolina and shaped equally by the Appalachian Mountains and the Piedmont\, Steep Canyon Rangers have long occupied a singular space in American roots music. From their earliest recordings\, the band demonstrated an unusual ability to honor traditional bluegrass forms while allowing contemporary songwriting\, literary influence\, and regional storytelling to seep naturally into the music. Over time\, this balance earned them both bluegrass credibility and broader Americana acclaim\, culminating in a Best Bluegrass Album GRAMMY Award for 2013’s Nobody Knows You\, additional nominations for Rare Bird Alert (2012) and North Carolina Songbook (2020)\, and an induction into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. \nColby T. Helms\nOn the day he turned 16\, he bought his first car\, a stick-shift Jeep Wrangler\, and hit the road to play anywhere people would have him. A veteran performer in the Blue Ridge/Appalachian Mountains region by age 18\, Colby wrote the songs that would become his upcoming semi-autobiographical concept album\, ‘Tales of Misfortune’\, as a senior in high school. DESCRIPTION:Definition: Loose interpretations of Grateful Dead songs done in a bluegrass style. Take my fascination with Grateful Dead songs and mix it together with my love of psychedelic improvisational bluegrass music and out burps this project. \nWARNING FROM KELLER: “If you like your Grateful Dead songs performed in their original way\, or if you prefer traditional bluegrass\, this is not the project for you.  If you like singing along to Dead songs in that song’s normal tempo but dancing double time to the music\, this is definitely your jam. A lot of people seem to dig it and I dig them for that.” ~KW \nKeller’s Grateful Grass delivers anything-but-traditional bluegrass versions of Grateful Dead favorites.
