“After college, I quit my job to become a raft guide and fell more in love with Fayetteville. I spent years traveling the rivers of the world and then traveling as a nurse. While working as a flight nurse in California I met my husband. We thought it would be best to raise our family in West Virginia, and I told him Fayetteville is the only place I wanted to live. He agreed.” Cindy Kappler said.
“My husband has wanted to fly since he learned to walk. He has been flying since he was 15. It’s a passion in his blood. His fascination with WWII lead to his love affair with the Stearman biplane. Our daughter Stella soloed at 16 and plans to become a pilot, as does at least one of my sons right now. We have six kids, and I realized if we ever wanted to see my husband we needed to live at the airport,” Cindy explained. This family’s passion for aviation fueled their decision to live above an airplane hanger and then purchase the Fayette Airpark.
This beautiful home, now turned AirBnB, is nestled above an airplane hangar overlooking the historic Fayette Airpark. When you walk in you will see exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, and a well-appointed kitchen.
The Aviator’s Lounge is spacious and the perfect basecamp for families. Did we mention there is a heated salt water pool and 10-person hot tub overlooking the airpark? Children will also love the pirate ship playset and swings.

Favorite Spot
My husband would say the hangar, but I think it’s the pool & patio overlooking the runway. It is just a wonderful place to relax. We love that Fayetteville is near the New River Gorge. All the activities that are here: rafting, hiking, biking, climbing, the great food, the wonderful diverse community of people that embrace my family, and as my husband says, the beautiful sky.

Experiences
“The Aviator’s Lounge is a beautiful, well-maintained, comfortable place to stay. The decor is one-of-a-kind! The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare meals as well as the gas grill for outside BBQ. Our family consisted of grandparents, children and grandchildren and we all had a great time. The grandchildren, ages 4 to 6, loved the trundle beds and the huge room where they could play and sleep together. We all spent a lot of our time in the pool and hot tub. Both were exceptionally clean and well-kept. I would highly recommend staying here when planning a vacation in Fayetteville.” Said Linda
