WONDERLAND MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE At Ace Adventure Resort

Join ACE Adventure Resort for the Wonderland Mountain Challenge, a demanding trail run through the beautiful mountains in West Virginia on Memorial Day weekend. Choose between a half-marathon, 10K run, or a 5-mile walk. These distinctive race routes will take racers through the New River Gorge past scenic rock outcrops, cascading streams and abandoned coal mines. After grabbing your medal at the finish line a burrito buffet awaits to tame the appetite you have developed. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers, plus you get bragging rights for tackling this amazing race on May 29th, 2021.Plus, take advantage of the FREE onsite shower houses after the race!!THREE RACE DISTANCES TO CHOOSE FROM!
Wonderland Mountain Challenge features three races including a half marathon, 10K run & 5-mile mountain hike. Both the half marathon & the 10K run follow the same route with the 10K ending at the 6.2-mile mark. The route will take racers up Wonderland Mountain from the resort center by Wonderland Waterpark. This initial climb gains roughly 250 feet in a mile before contouring for the next 2 miles through a beautiful hardwood forest. The course continues in this fashion with short sections of elevation change until the route finds a terrain bench to follow for a longer distance. You will love the views into the New River Gorge overlooking the town of Thurmond.REGISTRATION FEES

Spring Southside Stroll with Active Southern WV
Get active with a refreshing springtime hike along the path of an old railroad line, the Southside Trail with Community Captain Pat Gagan. Blooms, buds, New River, and historic sites will be seen along the way during this 2.5 mile adventure.Participants will be asked to sign an online waiver found here.

Directions:
To reach the trailhead from Route 19, follow Route 16 south through the town of Fayetteville. Take a left on Gateway Road (sign indicates Kaymoor and Cunard). Follow Gatewood Road for 4.6 miles and turn left at the sign for Cunard. Go 1.8 miles and turn left at both of the signs indicating Cunard River Access Road. Follow this road to the river access point, where parking is available. The first mile from the Cunard River Access is open to motorized vehicles. A parking area at Brooklyn marks the end of the maintained road.

We are excited to announce our Weekly Women’s Group Ride will be on Sundays!Sundays at 5 pm, Erin Larsen and Sarah Coffey will be leading a beginner to intermediate ride for women who are looking to ride with other women, explore the Arrowhead Trails with a group, and have a good time!Meet at the Bike Farm at 5:00. The length of the ride will depend on the group but will range from 6-8 miles.
10th Annual Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil

The Huse Memorial Park Commission invites you to our 10th Annual Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil, Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 8 pm at the Huse Memorial Park & Mausoleum, located at 124 Park Drive, Fayetteville, West Virginia. The evening will begin as sweet music fills the air by Zayne Anderson and the Fresh Fountain Praise Team. Our Boys Scouts of America, led by Michael LeChalk, will stand at attention awaiting the Presentation of Colors. This year’s vigil will be based on the topic “Joining Hearts for America” given by speaker, US Airforce Tech Sergeant James F. Akers. After this Memorial Day devotion, Pastor Danny Goins will begin the Candlelight Presentation.Bring a chair, a mask and a friend, meeting us for “Joining Hearts for America” within our community!
