9 Reasons To Visit Fayetteville In The Spring

Fayetteville is beautiful any time of year. That said, the springtime is a favorite for blooming, budding and bountiful activities.

1. Be wowed by the redbuds and dogwood blooms!

No description available.

Fayetteville transforms in the spring with an abundance of new life and spring blooms. It is a great time to visit scenic overlooks and enjoy a drive to the mountains with redbuds and dogwoods lining the roads.

2. Waterfalls

West Virginia is known as the birthplace of rivers and with that comes lots of breathtaking waterfalls. On a busy weekend, popular falls can become crowded making it hard to practice social distancing. We tend to have fewer crowds midweek in the spring. Stop by the visitor center and we can point you in the direction of some of the lesser-known waterfalls in the area for fun exploring.

3. Fewer Crowds

April and May are prime time to visit as crowds are small. This makes it easier to hit up popular hiking trails midweek during the spring with less crowds and to enjoy your favorite Fayetteville restaurants without long waits.

4. Wildflowers in Bloom

The New River Gorge National Park Service hosts the Spring Nature Fling (formerly Wildflower Weekend) from mid-April- May. During this event, park rangers lead guided wildflower hikes and guided nature activities. Visitors can take part in art workshops and enjoy the Metamorphosis Art Exhibit at Tamarack along with the Youth Arts in the Park Appalachian Spring Wildflower Art Contest Exhibit. Spring is a beautiful time of year to take a hike and enjoy a variety of blooms from trillium, dutchmen britches, trout lilly, virginia bluebell and more!

5. Eat, Drink and Be Merry

May be an image of burger and text that says 'WOOD IRON'
Ramp pimento cheese burger with candied bacon Wood Iron Eatery

It is the prime season to dine in Fayetteville. Many of our restaurants feature specials highlight spring delicacies like ramps. Take advantage of outdoor dining. Many of our restaurants and breweries offer outdoor seating. Enjoy a cold brew at the Freefolk Brewery and warm up by their fire pit on cool spring evenings under the stars. Enjoy pop up kitchens, load up with a curated picnic basket from The Station to enjoy a picnic by the river. Mark your calander for the 2nd Annual Ramp Festival May 1st at Ace Adventure Resort.

6. Explore the Newest National Park

No description available.

Spring is the prime season for exploring the Newest National Park, whether it be by hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing, or paddleboarding. Everything has come to life with vibrant greens and blooms abounding. 7.Spring Weather

Spring weather is perfect for exploring downtown. Fayetteville is lined with unique boutiques and delicious eateries all within walking distance. The Courthouse comes to life as all the trees bloom for a picturesque small-town setting.
