Summer means warm sunny weather and lots of fun events in Fayetteville. We are ready to get into the swing of summer fun and we are committed to taking the extra steps and precautions to safely host events. Enjoy Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival and 4th of July Celebration, lots of races and triathlons, Fayetteville’s Wild Weekend Nature Festival, and weekly farmers markets.

Earth Day 2.0

June 11

Generation New River Gorge Presents Earth Day 2.0. This festival celebrates the springtime renewal and revitalization in West Virginia’s mountains. You will be able to visit various arts, crafts, retail, and artisan food, vendors. Feast your eyes on beautiful paintings and pottery, locally-made soaps, jewelry, and much more! The day kicks off with community yoga on the Court House lawn, followed by educational activities promoting environmental protection, local businesses, kids games, and interactive booths, and ending with local live music in downtown! The farmer’s market is open from 8:30 am-12:30 pm selling fresh, locally grown treats including baked goods, coffee, spices, and herbal remedies.

Gritty Chix Mud Run

Gritty Chix Mud Run  is coming back to ACE Adventure Resort June 19, 2021! At ACE, we are ready to jump back into all that mud! Gritty Chix was voted the #1 Mud Run/Adventure Race in the Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic last year by Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. This race is something you don’t want to miss out on! Gritty Chix Mud run is for anyone with a gritty spirit, and everyone who’s #1 goal is to have fun in the funky, and dirty Mud course. Help support a good cause and watch your besties make muddy fools of themselves this summer at ACE Adventure Resort.

Fayetteville Heritage Festival & 4th of July Celebration

Celebrate America’s birthday in America’s coolest small town. We invite you and your family to join our community in celebration. Experience the magic of our small-town Independence Day Celebration with Fayetteville’s Heritage Festival. This event features fun activities for the whole family with a 4th of July Parade, fireworks, bounce house carnival, live music, and more! Enjoy ice cream and a day full of wholesome summer fun. One of the highlights of the celebration is the 4th of July Parade where you will see an explosion of patriotism with decked-out floats. The festivities will be capped off by a fireworks extravaganza at the Fayetteville Town Park at dusk on 4th.

Wild, Wonderful Women’s Weekend

Experience the laidback community of Arrowhead Bike Farm and the beautiful New River Gorge mountain biking trails at this women’s mountain bike retreat! Enjoy two days of riding, practicing yoga, and making friends. This weekend retreat is for women of all mountain bike abilities looking to improve their skills while having fun. Captain Thurmond’s Challenge

August 7-8

Captain Thurmond’s Challenge is held in the center of beautiful downtown Fayetteville, West Virginia. It is an extreme triathlon consisting of 28.5 miles of the most extreme Mountain Biking, White Water, and Running in the state and some would say the East Coast. Participants can register to compete as part of Raft Team, a Relay Team, or in the Solo Division.If you’re looking for teammates or are concerned about the White Water leg of this race, we encourage you to contact us and we will be happy to help you assemble a team. This race is part of the New River Gorge Challenge Weekend so pack up the friends and family and head on out for a weekend of racing for every level! In addition to the Captain Thurmond’s Challenge on Saturday, August 7th, 2021, a 5K will also be held in town that morning with proceeds supporting the New River Gorge Learning Co-Op. There is also an awesome FAMILY-FRIENDLY triathlon held Sunday, August 8th in the town of Thurmond, WV, a short drive from Fayetteville.

Fayetteville’s Wild Weekend Nature Festival

August 13-15

We want to invite you to come on an adventure with us and discover all of the nature that Fayetteville has to offer. We are celebrating what makes Fayetteville so wild with a nature festival from August 13th through the 15th. From educational programs designed specifically for youngsters and adults to guided hikes in the New River Gorge along with adventure activities.  Fayetteville’s Wild Weekend will offer a variety of activities and workshops for all ages and interests. Come and celebrate the features, creatures, and culture that make Fayetteville the unique place that it is. Stay tuned for schedule updates as more events are finalized. Enjoy activities from nature paddle boarding tours to salamander talks. We will have a nature market and educational booths set up at the Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau.

New River Gorgeous Trail Run

Join ACE Adventure Resort for the 20th Annual New River Gorge-ous Trail Run & Walk. Choose between three race options including a half-marathon, 10K run, or a 5-mile walk. All the courses wander through deep hardwood forests and offer spectacular views of the New River and the historic town of Thurmond. And yes, prizes are awarded.

Fayette County Farmers Market

Saturdays

Stop by the Fayette County Farmers Market every Saturday conveniently located in the Fayette County Courthouse parking lot off Wiseman Ave from 8am to 12:30pm. Shop for a variety of produce grown locally, fresh eggs, baked goods, meats, and more. There are also a variety of artisans that set up every market with handmade items. The market moves to the Rick Rutledge Pavilion off Virginia Street in Oak Hill on Thursdays from 2pm to 6pm.

New Roots Community Farm hosts a farm sale on site every Thursday from 1pm-6 pm. Join us on the last Thursday of the month for an extra special market with special guests from June- September from 1 pm to 6 pm. In addition to Turnrow pickups and on-farm sales, we will be hosting food trucks featuring local ingredients. Bring a blanket and join us for picnic-style dining. There will be a pop-up market featuring local farmers and artists. You are welcome to bring an instrument if you play for some pickin fun. We will also have activities for the kids.
