Mayor Norman Daily Updates

Mayor Norman (the cat) at Maggie’s Pub is certainly spreading positivity to the community by posting his daily antics (courtesy of Josh Gray) during this business shutdown. Norman has many many admirers and Josh is helping him deal with the social distancing and we are all here for it. Check Maggie’s Pub on Facebook to follow Norman’s daily log. Here is an update. Norman’a log has inspired some to donate to the New River Humane Society. Donations have reached $350!

Kindness Spotlight

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our community, many families who are struggling to feed themselves are also facing the challenge of feeding their beloved pets. To help area pet owners in need, the New River Humane Society will be hosting a drive-thru pet food distribution event at the Fayette County Park on May 1st at 6:00pm.

The distribution will occur as a no-contact drive-thru pick up, and individuals will be asked to stay in their cars as food is loaded into their vehicle by volunteer. For the safety of all involved, volunteers will wear a mask and gloves at all times. Those who are picking up food are also asked to wear a mask or mouth/nose covering of some kind. Supplies are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are also seeking any and all donations to help us care for the animals at the Fayette County Animal Control Center. Current needs include canned & dry kitten food, canned & dry puppy food, toilet paper, paper towels, disinfectant spray, hand soap, hand sanitizer, dish soap, laundry detergent, 30 gal (or larger) trash bags, and bleach.

Thanks Fayette Connected for all your volunteer efforts!
