We want to highlight some of the positive things going down in town this week to bring a smile to your face. Thank you to all the essential folks and helpers who are serving on the front lines and supporting our community!
Kindness Spotlight:
We want to shed a light on a local community leader, Chris Lawson. Thank you for launching the Love Is Real campaign with the mission of showing people that love is real and bringing people together. The message has spread like wildfire as acts of kindness have been popping up throughout town with many of the acts orchestrated by Chris Lawson himself.
NRHS Drive-Thru Pet Food Distribution & Donation Drive
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our community, many families who are struggling to feed themselves are also facing the challenge of feeding their beloved pets. To help area pet owners in need, the New River Humane Society will be hosting a drive-thru pet food distribution event at Tractor Supply in Oak Hill on Friday, June 12th from 6pm-8pm.
The distribution will occur as a no-contact drive-thru pick up, and individuals will be asked to stay in their cars as food is loaded into their vehicle by volunteers. For the safety of all involved, volunteers will wear a mask and gloves at all times. Those who are picking up food are also asked to wear a mask or mouth/nose covering of some kind.
We are also seeking any and all donations to help us care for the animals at the Fayette County Animal Control Center. Current needs include canned & dry kitten food, canned & dry puppy food, toilet paper, paper towels, disinfectant spray, hand soap, hand sanitizer, dish soap, laundry detergent, 30 gal (or larger) trash bags, and bleach

#Fayettevillewvstrong
We love our little slice of almost heaven and our community is what makes this place so special. Over the coming weeks and months, our favorite restaurants, shops, places to stay and places to play in our beloved town are going to see a decline in visitors. Our little town is dependent on tourism so we are especially going to take a hit. Our small businesses need us now more than ever. #Fayettevillewvstrong is a movement to support our town and community.
You can help in lots of ways: ordering food to go, shopping online, tipping well, buy a gift card, leave a positive review, or just spread the word about your favorite small business and the #fayettevillewvstrong campaign. We are an outdoorsy close-knit town and we will be utilizing our strengths. You will see more businesses utilizing outdoor spaces. Please be patient with us as we navigate new changes and try to keep each other safe.
