Mayor Norman Daily Updates 

Mayor Norman (the cat) at Maggie’s Pub is certainly spreading positivity to the community by posting his daily antics (courtesy of Josh Gray) during this business shutdown. Norman has many many admirers and Josh is helping him deal with the social distancing and we are all here for it. Check Maggie’s Pub on Facebook to follow Norman’s daily log. Here is an update. Norman’a log has inspired some to donate to the New River Humane Society. Donations have reached $450! 

Fayetteville Puts Up Flags To Honor Veterans

The Town of Fayetteville would like to honor all our veterans every day but especially on Memorial Day. The following veterans are featured throughout our streets this month by the family or friends of the veteran by the purchasing a veteran flag in their honor. The flags contain the veteran’s name, picture and information listed below. If you would like to purchase a flag for the veteran in your life, please contact Zenda Vance or send The Town of Fayetteville a Facebook Message.

As you enter our town onto Court Street from Rt 19, the flags begin with the following order ending at Wisteria.:

Fayetteville Farmers Market Moves to Courthouse Parking Lot

The Fayette County Farmers Market will be set up in the Fayette Courthouse Parking lot for the next three Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

Active Southern WV Celebrates Bike Month

May is Bike Month and Active Southern WV invites you to celebrate by participating in the Active SWV Bike Month Photo Contest.

1 – Private message your images to our facebook page along with a description, your name, and mailing address.

2 – We will have a panel of judges select the winners and announce by sharing the bike entry gallery at the end of May. *By sending your photos, you agree to having them reposted by Active SWV.

3 – Each photo submission earns an entry into the contest.

4 – Winners will receive an Active SWV prize bag with bike goodies.

Fundraiser for Fruits and Vegetables

Active Southern West Virginia is redirecting funding and collecting additional donations to support feeding programs across the state during Covid-19 They are collecting funds that support programs in four counties including Fayette County and the Coda Mountain Academy . A local resident Jenna Grayson is also selling pepperoni rolls as a fundraiser to support this program.

New River Humane Society Seeks Creative Volunteers to Help Build Animal Enrichment Equipment 

We have need of some creative and handy folks who can help design and build some Canine Enrichment Equipment for our play yard, and a Catio area for our kitties!! The pictures below are some examples of what we’d love to see our animals have at the shelter, but certainly we’re open to bigger and better suggestions!!If you or someone you know would like to help us, please send us a PM so we can get to work!! And if you’d like to contribute to help us pay for the supplies and equipment, we’d welcome that too!
