We’ve got a new place to welcome you to Fayetteville!
Visit Fayetteville is excited to officially open the doors to our new Fayetteville Welcome Center at 130 W. Maple Avenue, conveniently located beside the Fayetteville Post Office in the heart of town.
Our new home sits on a piece of Fayetteville history. The site was once home to the Cody & Hess Store, and as we settled into the space, we wanted our Welcome Center to feel connected to the community and the stories that make Fayetteville special.
More Than a Welcome Center
Whether Fayetteville is home, you’re visiting for the first time, or you’ve been coming to the New River Gorge for years, our door is open.
Stop in for local recommendations, maps, brochures and ideas for exploring Fayetteville and the surrounding area. We’re happy to help you find a trail, discover a new restaurant, plan an afternoon of shopping, learn about upcoming events or uncover something you might not have known about our little corner of West Virginia.
Our new location also offers accessible public restrooms and public parking behind the building, making it an easy stop while you’re exploring downtown.
And you don’t have to be looking for directions to visit! Grab one of the rocking chairs out front, sit for a spell and enjoy Maple Avenue. We hope the Welcome Center becomes a place where visitors and neighbors alike feel comfortable stopping by and staying awhile.
A Space Made in Fayetteville
One of our favorite parts of the new Welcome Center is how many local touches you’ll find throughout the space.
Local artist Kelly LeCava created our beautiful mural, bringing a little piece of Fayetteville’s personality indoors, while Andrew Adkins handcrafted our welcome desk to create a centerpiece that’s both functional and uniquely ours with wormy chestnut that was harvested out of the gorge and once in the Hatchers store.
We’re also excited to have a piece of Fayetteville school history on display. Several Fayetteville High School trophies have found a new home inside the Welcome Center, giving former Pirates and anyone interested in our community’s history a reason to take a closer look.
Throughout the center, you’ll find other nods to the people, places, history and outdoor adventures that have shaped Fayetteville.
